Philippines Marks 128th Independence Anniversary

This 2026 marks the 128th anniversary of the birth of the Filipino nation. The theme "Kalayaan (Independence), Kinabukasan (Future), Kasaysayan (History)" reflects the sacrifices of our forefathers in achieving our nation's independence. The Philippines takes pride as the earliest democracy and republic in Asia, noting the country’s commitment to be a global leader in upholding the rule of law, justice, human rights, and the values of freedom and sovereignty. 

The country’s history also shaped our engagement in the international community. The Philippines and the Kingdom of Bahrain have established warm, vibrant and longstanding bilateral and people-to-people ties. Our countries continue to champion shared and mutual interests through bilateral and multilateral initiatives on various areas of cooperation, such as trade and investment, tourism, culture and arts, defense, migration, and labor and employment, among others. I take this opportunity to express my deepest appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and the government and people of the Kingdom of Bahrain for their invaluable support and contributions that continue to further strengthen our bilateral ties. 

To all the Filipinos in the Kingdom of Bahrain, I wish you all a meaningful and joyous commemoration of Philippine Independence. May this celebration continue to inspire and ignite our hearts to continue the fight in preserving the ideals and values of democracy and freedom for our nation. Let us continue to showcase our resilience and bayanihan spirit to the world.
