Bahrain to host top energy conference

ManamaBahrain is to host the Seventeenth World Renewable Energy Conference from December 4 to 8.

The World Energy Council, in collaboration with the University of Bahrain, is organising the event, under the patronage of Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza.

The minister will speak on sustainable energy and Bahrain’s Sustainable Energy Unit, its plans and objectives, at the opening ceremony. 

He will also give a presentation on projects that have been implemented and those that will be implemented as well as explain the national plan to encourage investment in renewable energy.

Experts and international specialists in renewable and green energy will attend the conference, held every two years. It will discuss sustainable energy issues, energy production and conservation and will talks about issues of efficient energy use in appliances and buildings, among other things.

Dr. Mirza yesterday received University of Bahrain President Dr. Riad Youssef Hamza, who was accompanied by Dr. Waheeb Al Nasser, vice president for academic programmes and graduate studies and Dr. Fouad Mohammad Ansari, dean of the College of Engineering. 

The visitors discussed with the minister the preparations for the conference, which will be attended by more than 300 participants from within and outside Bahrain.

The minister praised their efforts and their quest for the success of the conference and hoped it would achieve the desired objectives. He said he was happy to patronise the conference because of its great importance in the light of global trends towards renewable energy. For their part, the visitors thanked the minister for the welcome and the hospitality and for his unwavering support.
