Bahrain Eyes AI Hub: Delegation Gains Insight into Huawei’s AI Research Base at Shanghai Conference
Bahrain’s ambition to become a regional hub for innovation took another step forward as the Nasser Scientific and Technical Center participated in Huawei Connect 2025 in Shanghai. The event, held under the theme “All Intelligent,” brought together leading global institutions to exchange knowledge and expertise in advanced technologies.
AI Focus
Led by CEO Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al Nuaimi, the Bahraini delegation explored how artificial intelligence is transforming sectors such as education, finance, and healthcare. Their participation followed an invitation from Huawei Bahrain, which has been actively strengthening ties with local institutions.
The visit included a tour of Huawei’s state-of-the-art research and development hub, which spans over 100 buildings and employs 25,000 technicians and researchers. The delegation was briefed on laboratories dedicated to AI infrastructure and large language model training, showcasing the technologies shaping the future of digital industries.
Building Partnerships
During the visit, the Bahraini team also met with Huawei’s AI specialists to discuss potential areas of collaboration. Officials noted that such exchanges are integral to Bahrain’s broader strategy of deepening international partnerships in advanced technologies and supporting research and development across key sectors.
By engaging with global technology leaders, the Nasser Scientific and Technical Center aims to reinforce Bahrain’s position as a regional platform for knowledge, innovation, and collaboration.
