Smoke From 800+ Canadian Wildfires Triggers Air Quality Alerts Across US
More than 800 wildfires are currently burning across Canada, with the majority reported to be out of control, prompting widespread air quality alerts that have extended into several northern US states.
Thick smoke from large wildfire clusters in northwestern Ontario has significantly reduced air quality across parts of Canada, including Thunder Bay and Toronto, while drifting south over the Great Lakes into states such as Michigan and Minnesota, where air quality has reached hazardous levels.
US weather officials have also issued alerts across the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes, and parts of the Northeast, urging residents to limit outdoor activities and remain indoors where possible.
