Northern Governorate opens summer sports programme

Barbar Club initiative aims to enhance skills, inclusion and community participation

Northern Governorate Governor Hassan Abdullah Al Madani attended the opening ceremony of a summer sports programme for people of determination, organised by Barbar Sports Club.

The event was attended by Northern Governorate Deputy Governor Brigadier Abdullah Ali Rashid Ma’anter, representatives from the Ministry of Social Development and the General Sports Authority, as well as several club officials.

Al Madani praised the programme, describing it as a reflection of the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting and empowering people of determination through specialised initiatives that help develop their abilities and strengthen their active participation in society.

He commended Barbar Sports Club’s management and the organisers for their efforts in launching the community-focused programme, which provides participants with opportunities to develop their sporting and social skills during the summer holiday.

The governor also highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships between government and community institutions, supporting initiatives that promote citizenship values, belonging, and social integration.

Meanwhile, Barbar Sports Club Chairman expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Social Development for its continued support of community service initiatives, and thanked the Northern Governorate for its cooperation and ongoing interest in social programmes.

He also acknowledged the financial support provided by Al Sater Markets, which contributed to the success of the summer programme.

During the visit, the governor and attendees toured a number of sports activities and programmes designed for participants before honouring the participants and joining them for a commemorative group photo.
