Saudi Arabia, Egypt Call for Secure Red Sea Navigation
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi called for freedom and security of maritime navigation through the Red Sea during talks in Cairo.
The two leaders discussed threats posed by the Iran-backed Houthis around the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a vital shipping route linked to Saudi oil exports and Egypt’s Suez Canal.
They also called for secure navigation through the Straits of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab, while President Al-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s support for measures taken by Saudi Arabia to protect its security and stability.
