Bahrain Calls for Regional Climate Cooperation at Oman Climate Week

The Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain’s Supreme Council for Environment, Amina Hamad Al Rumaihi, stressed the importance of strengthening regional cooperation and coordinating efforts to address climate challenges and advance environmental and climate goals.

Al Rumaihi made the remarks while participating in the Oman Climate Week 2026, organised by Oman’s Environment Authority in cooperation with international organisations and academic institutions at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat.

The event features a series of dialogue sessions and specialised scientific conferences covering areas including waste management, the circular economy and renewable energy.

Al Rumaihi highlighted the importance of regional platforms in promoting cooperation and facilitating the exchange of expertise and experiences among countries and relevant institutions. She also noted their role in showcasing innovative initiatives and solutions in environmental and climate fields, while providing an opportunity to learn about the latest environmental practices, technologies and solutions.

She welcomed the announcement of a cooperation programme between Oman’s Environment Authority, Petroleum Development Oman, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, and the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises and Research and Innovation in Oman to establish an Environmental Innovation Centre.

Al Rumaihi said the initiative would help create a supportive ecosystem for environmental innovation and entrepreneurship, nurture promising ideas and projects, and accelerate their development. She added that it would contribute to developing solutions to environmental challenges, supporting the green economy and advancing sustainable development goals.

She also praised the organisation of Oman Climate Week 2026, describing it as an important platform for exchanging knowledge and expertise and discussing developments in the environmental and climate sectors.

Al Rumaihi further praised the strong fraternal relations between Bahrain and Oman and the growing cooperation between the two countries in environmental and climate fields.

She reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to supporting regional platforms that bring together officials and experts to exchange knowledge and perspectives and advance shared environmental and climate objectives.
