‘Widow’s Bay’ and ‘The Pitt’ dominate 2026 Emmy Awards

Los Angeles: Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay and The Pitt were among the biggest winners at the 78th Emmy Awards, with both shows taking top honours in the comedy and drama categories.

Widow’s Bay made history by winning 14 awards, the most ever for a comedy series in a single season. Matthew Rhys won lead actor in a comedy, while the show also collected acting, writing and directing awards.

The Pitt won best drama series for the second year in a row, with Noah Wyle taking the award for lead actor in a drama. Rhea Seehorn won her first Emmy for lead actress for Pluribus.

Jean Smart won her fifth consecutive Emmy for Hacks, while Matthew Rhys also won lead actor in a limited series for The Beast in Me.

The ceremony was hosted by Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay and featured appearances and tributes, including recognition for Michael J. Fox for his humanitarian work.
