Drone strike on Sudan border town kills at least 14: survivor, official

KHARTOUM: A deadly drone strike blamed on the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has killed at least 14 people, primarily women, in the Sudanese border town of Al-Tina. The aerial bombardment targeted the frontier community, which serves as a critical gateway situated directly on the international border with Chad.
According to an attack survivor who spoke to AFP, local residents who rushed to the bomb site following the blast uncovered the bodies of 14 victims heavily concentrated in the impact zone.
Due to a severe, ongoing communications blackout that isolated the region, locals were forced to use a makeshift satellite internet connection to circumvent network outages and relay details of the tragedy to the outside world.
A Sudanese government official formally confirmed the cross-border attack on Tuesday. Authorities stated that emergency infrastructure and local administrative teams are currently working under constrained conditions to officially tally the final number of casualties and identify the deceased.
