UAE Intercepts Missile Wave

The United Arab Emirates said its air defence systems intercepted a wave of missiles and drones launched from Iran on Sunday, in the latest escalation of cross-border attacks, according to the Ministry of Defence.

In a statement, the ministry said UAE forces engaged 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles and four unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), resulting in three moderate injuries.

It added that since the beginning of what it described as “ongoing Iranian attacks” on the UAE, air defences have intercepted a total of 549 ballistic missiles, 29 cruise missiles and 2,260 drones.

According to the ministry, the cumulative toll of injuries has reached 227, involving nationals from a wide range of countries including the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Turkey, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden, Tunisia, Morocco and Russia.

It also said the total death toll has reached three, including one Moroccan civilian contractor working with the armed forces. Civilian fatalities, it added, stand at 10, with victims reported to be of Pakistani, Nepali, Bangladeshi, Palestinian, Indian and Egyptian nationalities.

The Ministry of Defence said it remains “fully prepared” to respond to any further threats, stressing its commitment to protecting the country’s sovereignty, security and stability.
