Hanoi: Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi met top Vietnamese leaders in Hanoi during her official visit, aiming to deepen bilateral ties and expand cooperation across key sectors.
The talks focused on strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, with discussions covering energy security, supply chains, technology and regional stability.
Takaichi’s visit, her first to Vietnam since taking office, comes as both sides seek to reinforce economic and strategic cooperation amid shifting regional dynamics.
She is also expected to outline Japan’s vision for a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in a policy speech, highlighting the importance of cooperation, resilience and stability in the region.
The visit underscores Vietnam’s growing importance in Japan’s regional strategy, with both countries looking to expand collaboration in emerging sectors while maintaining strong diplomatic and economic ties.
