Rome and Doha Push for Stability

Italy expressed strong solidarity with Qatar following recent regional tensions. Defence Minister Guido Crosetto conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during a meeting with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad AlThani.
The minister reaffirmed Italy’s support for Qatar, describing it as a friendly nation affected by unjust attacks linked to Iran. He highlighted the importance of unity and cooperation during a sensitive period for the region.
Both sides discussed the need to support diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating the crisis and building a more stable regional security framework. Both sides placed particular emphasis on ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route.
The discussions also covered strengthening bilateral cooperation in defence, the defence industry, and energy security, reflecting a shared commitment to deeper strategic ties between Rome and Doha.
