Qatar has begun a phased reopening of Hamad International Airport (HIA) to foreign airlines, marking a major step toward restoring full aviation operations after nearly two months of disruption linked to the US–Iran conflict.
The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) said the decision follows a comprehensive safety and security review conducted with relevant national agencies. It confirmed that all flights will operate under strict international safety standards with enhanced precautionary measures for passengers and aviation staff.
Qatar closed its airspace on February 28, 2026, after regional tensions escalated, forcing the suspension of commercial flights. A limited reopening began in March, allowing evacuation, repatriation, and cargo operations. Qatar Airways later resumed transit services on March 18, restoring partial connectivity through Doha.
