Syria’s President Begins Gulf Tour

Syria’s President Ahmad Al Shara began a Gulf tour with an official visit to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, according to his office. In Jeddah, Al Shara held talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and discussing regional developments.
Syrian state media said the visit forms part of a wider Gulf tour, although other destinations have not yet been confirmed. Discussions reportedly included economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and regional connectivity projects.
Prince Saud bin Mishaal, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region, received Al Shara in Jeddah, along with senior officials including the city’s mayor, the regional police chief, and representatives from the royal court.
Saudi Arabia has emerged as a key investor in post-2024 Syria following Al Shara’s rise to power after leading a rebel offensive that ousted former President Bashar Al Assad.
