GCC Urges International Action to Support Crisis-Hit Lebanon

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohammed Al Budaiwi, reaffirmed the “historical and strong” ties between GCC countries and Lebanon, stressing continued support for Lebanon’s security, stability, sovereignty, and development aspirations.
Speaking at a seminar titled “GCC–Lebanon Relations: Challenges and Incentives” held at the GCC General Secretariat in Riyadh, Al Budaiwi said the Gulf views Lebanon as an integral part of the Arab world and a key pillar of regional stability.
He reiterated the GCC’s consistent position in backing Lebanese state institutions and supporting full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, as well as efforts to extend state authority across all Lebanese territory and restrict weapons to official forces.
Al Budaiwi noted that Lebanon faces multiple challenges, including economic crisis, infrastructure damage, and humanitarian pressures following recent escalations that caused large-scale displacement and casualties. He stressed the need for urgent international support to stabilize the country and promote recovery.
He added that GCC support for Lebanon is part of a shared international responsibility, emphasizing that long-term stability depends on strengthening state institutions, securing borders, and combating illegal activities.
The GCC chief concluded that the Gulf will remain a committed partnerto Lebanon, expressing hope that the seminar will produce practical recommendations to support Lebanon politically, economically, and humanitarianly.
