UN Welcomes Ceasefire Extension

Geneva: UN Secretary-General António Guterres has welcomed the United States’ announcement to extend the ceasefire, calling it an important step toward de-escalation and an opportunity to create space for diplomacy and confidence-building between Iran and the United States.
In a statement, the UN chief urged all parties to build on the momentum, avoid actions that could undermine the ceasefire, and engage constructively in negotiations aimed at achieving a sustainable and lasting resolution.
Guterres also expressed full support for Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate further talks between the sides. He said he hopes the initiative will help create conditions for a comprehensive and durable settlement to the conflict.
The remarks come amid heightened regional tensions and growing international calls for dialogue to prevent further escalation.
