Qatar Amir Holds Phone Call with Japanese Prime Minister

His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, received a telephone call from Sanae Takaichi.

The call focused on bilateral relations between Qatar and Japan, with both sides discussing ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors. They also reviewed recent regional and international developments, particularly ongoing tensions and their impact on energy markets and global supply chains, stressing the importance of maintaining stable energy flows.

During the conversation, the Japanese Prime Minister condemned the Iranian attacks on Qatar and praised the country’s handling of the situation, including efforts to ensure the safety of Japanese residents and maintain regional stability.

For his part, the Amir expressed appreciation for Japan’s support, reaffirming Qatar’s commitment to the safety and well-being of all residents, while highlighting the strong and longstanding strategic partnership between the two nations.

Both sides also voiced support for mediation efforts led by Pakistan and stressed the need to reach a comprehensive agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, in order to strengthen energy security, stabilise global markets, and support regional and international economic stability.
