Bahrain Beach Handball Team Defeats China in Asian Beach Games Opener
The Bahrain national beach handball team kicked off its campaign at the Asian Beach Games with a strong 2–0 victory over hosts China in Group A, currently being held in Sanya.
Bahrain dominated the opening set, securing a comfortable 14–8 win through strong coordination and physical readiness. The second set proved more competitive, with China taking the lead at times before Bahrain staged a late comeback to level the score.
The match was ultimately decided by a golden goal, where Bahrain’s determination paid off. A quick attacking move saw Mahdi Ali assist Bilal Askani, who set up Ali Al Hayki to score the निर्णing goal, sealing the victory without the need for a shootout.
The team’s performance reflected the continued growth of Bahraini handball, with players maintaining high focus and composure against a strong home side backed by local supporters.
Officials from the Bahrain Olympic Committee and Bahrain Handball Federation were present to support the team, highlighting strong backing for national athletes.
Attention now shifts to the official opening ceremony of the Games, set to take place in Sanya, where Bahrain will be represented by a delegation of athletes and officials. The Kingdom continues to build on its impressive record in previous editions, having secured multiple medals across different disciplines.
