Coca-Cola, local artists ‘Create Beautiful Things’

Manama

As part of its global commitment to making a positive difference for the consumers, Coca-Cola has embarked on an art upcycling initiative – ‘Create Beautiful Things’ – that will inspire the local community and raise funds for a charitable cause.

The company has collaborated with eight leading artists in Bahrain, who have used their artistic skills to create innovative objects with items ranging from home décor to fashion accessories and stationery items.

Artists involved in the project include Bahraini upcycle designer Salah Bushehri, renowned artist Ella Prakash, eco-conscious artist Vrushali, prominent artists Taiba Faraj Ebrahim and Ramah Al Hussieni, passionate upcycling artists, Noof Alrefaei and Nawaf Al Malood.

Additionally, Leyla Jassim, an Ophthalmologist who enjoys making upcycled dresses out of unconventional materials, is also participating in the exhibition by donating four upcycled dresses. Moreover, Verandah, well-known for their passion for recycling, are also contributing towards the art exhibition.

The exhibits will be displayed on October 9 at Amwaj Marina.

Through this initiative, Coca-Cola aims to raise funds to help make dreams come true for children affected by terminal illnesses, with all sale proceeds going to Dreams Society.

During the launch of the exhibition, Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Bahrain Managing Director Mohamed Akeel commented, “This is a genuine collaboration with local artists who have joined hands with us to showcase the art and beauty that can be created through upcycling materials.”

Akeel added, “We have used this art concept to promote the cause of terminally ill children who should have the same opportunity to experience joy and happiness as all children. Raising funds through our exhibition will mean our charity partner, Dreams Society, can help realise the dreams of some of these children.”

During the exhibition, there will be live workshops by some of the artists on upcycling, to help visitors create their own items for charity.

Vice Chairman of the Board, Dreams Society, Aysha Fakhro, said, “The funds raised for Dreams Society will allow us to make more dreams come true for those children who are terminally ill. This will brighten the children’s day and create a beautiful lifelong memory that the children and their families will remember forever. We would also like to thank Coca Cola for organising the event and the artists for participating in it.”

The exhibition is being supported by organisations such as Intercontinental Regency and Amwaj Marina, who have come forward and offered their venues to showcase the upcycled art.

Moreover, Coca-Cola is also calling out to all artists in Bahrain to help explore the creative possibilities of upcycling and create more upcycled art for display at the exhibition. Artists are encouraged to donate painting or creative work, which will help raise funds through an auction.

The exhibition is free to all artists across Bahrain.
