Man Jailed Five Years for Setting Fire to Mother’s Home

A man in his forties has been sentenced to five years in prison and fined 300 Bahraini dinars after the First High Criminal Court convicted him of setting fire to his elderly mother’s home and threatening her.
The court found that the defendant deliberately started a fire in the ground-floor living room, causing property damage, including a burned chair and smoke damage.
Civil Defense confirmed the fire was intentional. The victim, a 79-year-old woman, said her son had previously threatened to burn the house. She reported him to police before the fire broke out.
Investigations revealed the incident followed a family dispute, and authorities later confirmed the arson caused material losses estimated at several hundred dinars.
