Cabinet orders clamp down on harmful social media accounts

His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa condemned in strongest terms misleading attempts made by some websites and social media accounts to sow sedition in the Bahraini society. They are “disseminating fallacies and rumours in a bid to target the kingdom’s closely-knit social fabric,” HRH the Premier said warning that those attempts are made by “internal and external plotters and enemies of the nation.”

Such efforts, HRH the Premier said, proved a failure thanks to “the cohesive Bahraini society’s awareness and keenness to foil the goals of those malicious accounts, and thwart their evil attempts.” HRH Premier gave directives to the Ministry of Interior to deal strictly with offending social media networks, through intensifying monitoring and follow-up.

The Premier also ordered to take strict and stringent legal measures against those in charge of them and the cyber cells that cooperate with them.
