Over 3,000 students for School Mini Olympics

Manama : The organizing committee of next month’s Fifth School Mini Olympics has confirmed a record-breaking 3,204 students from 57 government and private schools for this year’s event.

Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) is organizing the fifth edition of the Mini Olympics, scheduled to run from March 8 to 22, and will also feature a record-breaking 20 sports in total compared to last year’s 14, including six new competitions.

This year, to be organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, will feature team sports such as football, 3-on- 3 basketball, volleyball and handball.

The remaining activities are table tennis, athletics, cricket, hockey, swimming, water sports, cycling, fencing, tennis, badminton, gymnastics, judo, karate, taekwondo, jiu jitsu and karting.

Sports Federations section head Fadi Humaidan said the organizing committee also approved the venues for each sports, including the Bahrain Football Federation grounds (boys football), Riffa Football Club (girls football), the Bahrain Basketball Association hall (boys basketball), Bahrain Sports Federation for People with Disabilities (girls basketball), Bahrain Volleyball Association (volleyball), Bahrain Handball Association (handball) and Isa Sports City(cricket).
