Bahraini actress Shafeeqa visits Theatre Fest

ManamaShafeeqa Yusuf, popular Bahraini actress said that the third edition of Khalid Bin Hamad Theatres Festival For National Clubs, Youth Centres and People With Disability reflects the concern of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association and Honourary President of the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation on developing local talents and empowering the youth of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the fields of art and culture.

This came during Yusuf’s visit to the festival at Muharraq Model Youth Centre in Busaiteen. The festival was launched on Wednesday by Hisham bin Mohammed Al-Jowder, on behalf of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and will continue to the 21st of the month.

Yusuf highlighted that the festival serves several noble goals set by HH to improve and develop the Bahrain’s cultural, innovative and artistic expression.

The actress visited the arts gallery organised on the side-lines of the festival and praised the visible efforts paid by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa to support the youth of the Kingdom and people with disabilities as well, wishing the organisers and the participants in the festival all the success.

It’s worth mentioning that Khalid Bin Hamad Theatres Festival For National Clubs, Youth Centres and People With Disability is organised for the third consecutive year by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa under the patronage of HH.

It is organised as part of Khalid Bin Hamad Al-Khalifa Initiatives to support the youth of the Kingdom of Bahrain and engage them with different events and activities.

This year’s edition is themed ‘Let’s_Plant_A_Smile’ and aims at empowering the youth in the fields of cultural and humanitarian works.

12 plays will be performed by local youth centres and clubs during the 18-day long festival, which will also include three additional shows that will be held on the sidelines of the main shows.

Abdulrahman Faeehi, the director of the second play, said Galali Cultural and Sports Club participates in the festival this year for the first time, following the success and popularity the festival gained in the previous two editions.

The Jury Committee awarded Abdulrahman Al-Attawi as the best actor in the show after he showed a great first appearance on stage.

Nooh Mohammed Mubarak, Saudi Critic, made some comments about the play and advised the director of the play to allow the actors to reincarnate the characters better in their future performances.

The festival was attended by several renowned Bahraini actors and actresses, directors, critics, scriptwriters and other famous personalities in the theatre and arts fields in the GCC.

The fourth play in the festival will be performed by Karzakkan Youth Centre on Sunday and is titled “Masks Off”. It is directed by Isa Khalifa and written by Amina Al-Junaid.
