Agreement for revamping Sh. Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah Highway signed

The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning signed an agreement with Kuwait Constructions, in partnership with Abdulla Ahmed Nass for the revamping of Sh. Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah Highway yesterday. The project is to transform Alba and Nuwaidrat Roundabout into a three-level intersection at the cost of $124 million (BD47 million).

The agreement was signed between the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Eng. Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf and representatives from Kuwait Constructions and Abdulla Ahmed Nass on the Ministry’s premises. The work will commence next month and the completion of the project is expected by August 2018.

The project, funded by the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Development as part of the Gulf Development Programme, is one of the biggest and most important infrastructure projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Sh. Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah is one of the oldest roads within the local roads network. The highway connects Manama to Sitra Industrial Area, Ma’ameer Industrial Area and Eker Industrial Area, in addition to connecting the industrial area surrounding the project to Mina Salman and Khalifa bin Salman Port.
