Washington DC: Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Google Translate has evolved from a simple text engine into a sophisticated language learning companion with the launch of an AI-powered Pronunciation Practice feature.
This major update introduces a "Practice" menu where users can speak translated phrases and receive instant, real-time feedback analyzed by artificial intelligence.
The tool uses phonetic breakdowns to help users understand exactly where they are struggling, highlighting specific syllables or sounds that need adjustment. Currently rolling out for Android users in the US and India, the feature initially supports English, Spanish, and Hindi, with more languages expected soon.
With over one billion monthly users translating nearly one trillion words, this move signals Google’s clear intent to compete with language-learning platforms by focusing on interactive, conversational confidence.
