Bahrain launches ‘Cross Safely’ campaign to strengthen road safety awareness
Bahrain is set to mark Gulf Traffic Week starting May 3 under the theme “Cross Safely,” as authorities step up efforts to promote safer driving habits and reduce accidents across the region.
Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa said the annual campaign serves as a key platform to enhance public awareness of road safety and its importance in protecting lives and property.
He noted that this year’s campaign comes amid challenging regional conditions in the Gulf Cooperation Council, highlighting the need to prioritise safety for all road users.
The initiative coincides with World Traffic Day on May 4. Officials also praised motorists in Bahrain for improved adherence to traffic laws and better driving behaviour, contributing to safer and more efficient roads.
Shaikh Abdulrahman emphasised that responsible driving reflects the Kingdom’s positive image, while underscoring the role of families in educating children about traffic awareness from an early age.
He added that authorities will continue to implement awareness campaigns and training programmes targeting different segments of society, with a focus on pedestrian safety, proper use of crossings, and strict compliance with traffic signals to minimise injuries and enhance overall road safety.
