Manama: Sahar Rashid Al Mannai, Chief Executive Officer of the Social Insurance Organisation (SIO), announced that wage support payments for Bahraini private-sector workers will be transferred to employers starting April 30.
The payments, covering April salaries, will be disbursed from the unemployment insurance fund following the closure of the registration period on April 28.
Al Mannai said an additional registration window has been opened until May 5, allowing employers who missed the initial deadline to apply and benefit from the scheme, ensuring broader access.
She confirmed that all technical and administrative preparations have been completed to ensure timely disbursement. According to SIO data, more than 86.6% of employers registered electronically, while 94.9% of eligible Bahraini insured private-sector workers benefited from the initiative.
Payments will be processed in line with approved regulations, including the deduction of monthly insurance contributions up to the insured wage ceiling. Employers remain responsible for paying wages to Bahraini employees in the private sector.
Al Mannai highlighted that the initiative aligns with the vision of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, which prioritise citizens’ welfare and strengthen social protection systems.
She added that ongoing efforts aim to enhance living stability for citizens while supporting the sustainability of Bahrain’s labour market.
