A revised peace proposal by Iran could come by Friday: US media

A critical diplomatic deadline approaches as Tehran is reportedly set to deliver a revised peace proposal to the United States by Friday, May 1. The proposal, facilitated by Pakistani mediators, follows President Donald Trump’s rejection of a previous three-stage draft.
Washington deemed earlier versions ‘unacceptable’ because they attempted to delay discussions regarding Iran’s nuclear program until a later phase.
The current standoff is defined by a severe U.S. naval blockade and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has crippled Iran’s oil exports and created a global energy crisis.
While the U.S. demands a 20-year commitment to ‘zero enrichment,’ Iran has previously countered with a shorter five-year window. With the temporary ceasefire set to expire, Friday's revised plan represents a final attempt to secure a permanent settlement through the mediation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
