Four teams qualify for knockout phase

ManamaCentral and Abu Saiba from Group 3 and Sanabis and Karbabad from Group 4 are the latest teams to qualify for the knockout phase of the Fourth Khalid bin Hamad Youth Centres Futsal League beginning tomorrow at Riffa Sports Club Hall.

In Group 3 action, Central were 4-2 winners over Abu Saiba thanks to goals from Ahmed Abdul Rasool, Ebrahim Al Muqla, Abdullah Abdul Wahid and Mohammed Al Sakran, while Jaffan Al Banai and Abdullah Mahdi netted for Abu Saiba.

In the second match, Busaiteen were awarded a 5-0 walkover win over Isa Town who failed to show, neither side advanced to the knockout phase.

In group 4,  Buhair beat Sanad 8-4 with the Buhair team goals scored by Ahmed Al Khayat (4), Omar Hassan (2) and a goal apiece from Abdullah Banami and Ahmed Hussain, while for Sanad the goals came from Ali Abdul Hussain (2), Hassan Abdulaziz and Isa Hamad, despite the fine scoring exploits by both teams, they were eliminated.

Sanabis defeated Karbabad with a score of 3-1 with goals from Zuhair Ahmed, Ahmed Alawi, Abdullah Hussain and for Karbabad by Ali Abdul Ameer as both sides reached the knockout. 

The preliminary rounds of the group stages conclude today with the Round of 16 starting tomorrow and continuing to Saturday. The quarter finals are set for August 28 and 29.

Meanwhile, The People with Disabilities League draw has been conducted and will run alongside the Youth Centres Futsal League, with Group 1 comprising Harakia Society, The Friendship Society For the Blind and the Bahrain Deaf Society, while Group 2 is made up of the Deaf team, Special Education team and the Hearing Impaired team. 

The preliminaries start tomorrow with Group 1 matches and continue on Thursday with Group 2 at Riffa Sports Club Hall.
