GCC security cooperation urged

There should be more security coordination among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to tackle the multi- faceted attacks targeting the region, urged Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

rn

The Premier also called for regular evaluation of the security situation to fortify the region against potential threats.

rn

Stressing that the GCC countries have no interest in meddling in the affairs of others, the Premier also warned that the bloc would fend off interferences in its own internal affairs.

rn

The Prime Minister made the statements while receiving senior state officials, alongside intellectual and cultural personalities at the Gudaibiya Palace yesterday.

rn

“Bahrain’s modernisation efforts will not be impeded by attempts seeking to distract it and make it focus on security at the expense of development,” Prince Khalifa said.

rn

“Any attempts to reproduce the regretful events in the Kingdom to fuel sedition, spread chaos and sow division will never succeed,” the Premier warned, stressing that the “government is keen to take all procedures to reinforce security and stability.”

rn

Human rights principles are the cornerstone of the government’s action and are deep-rooted in Bahrain, the Premier said, adding that these rights have been implemented before they have been requested by international legislations.

rn

The Prime Minister called for the need to unify stances to protect the nation and ensure the continuity of its progress, which, he emphasised, is the responsibility of everyone.

rn

Prince Khalifa also urged the citizens to take efforts to strengthen national cohesion, which is the only available option to confront sabotage and terrorism plots.
