Walkathon to be held to raise awareness on autism

Manama : The Bahrain Autistic Society will host a voluntary walkathon in view of the “World Autism Day” tomorrow.

To mark the International Month of Autism, hundreds of people are expected to join hands to raise awareness on autism, the importance of its diagnosis and the benefits of detecting it at an early stage, a press release said.

“The walkathon, which will begin from Al Estiqlal Walkway, also aims to shed light on the different challenges faced by individuals with autism on a daily basis and how one can help overcome them to live a healthy, independent and ordinary life,” it said.

Themed as “We Are Here”, the walkathon comes in line of the Society’s commitment to continuously support and recognise the needs of various autistic individuals across the Kingdom.

Al Zayani Investments, Zayani Motors, Bahrain Specialist Hospital and Media Scene for PR and Translation will be supporting the initiative by being the sponsors of the walkathon as part of their overall social responsibility, the organisers added.
