Al Jabria School slug it out

Manama : Al Jabria School yesterday captured the boys secondary stage volleyball championship in the Third School Mini Olympics with a 2-0 (25-22, 25-23) victory over Al Muharraq School in the final match at the Bahrain Volleyball Association’s gym in Riffa.

The final was followed by the awarding ceremony, in which Bahrain Volleyball Association’s national team committee head Jehad Khalfan presented the medals to members of both teams, while the Indian School received the bronze medal after coming third.

In the girls secondary stage final, Al Hekma International School took the title with a 2-1 (25-21, 11-25, 15-12) win over Al Raja in another well- fought game.

Meanwhile, six matches on the second day of the girls secondary stage football competition took place at the Riffa Club grounds in Hunainiya.

In day’s opening game of this seven-team single round robin championship, Al Maarifa recorded a 4-0 win over the Indian School to extend their unbeaten run to three matches.

In the 3-on-3 basketball championships, there were boys and girls secondary stage games in the group stages, where Kanoo 2 scored three wins over Al Wisam 3 (7-2), AMA-2 (10-0) and NMS-1 (10-0) to top Group ‘A’.

Today the action sees the aquathlon championships featuring competition for intermediate and secondary stages for boys and girls, in addition to the group stages of the 3-on-3 basketball and football events.

Nine sports are taking place, including three team sports – football, basketball and volleyball. The remaining sports are athletics, aquathlon, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and athletics for disabilities.
