Lanka Lions excel in HBL cup
Manama : Lanka Lions defeated Titans by 35 runs in the HBL Premier League organised by Cricket Bahrain Association (CBA) at the Hunainiya Valley grounds in Riffa.
Batting first, Lanka Lions scored 172 runs for seven in20 overs with Gamini (36 off 33 deliveries) top scoring with Kashif and Yasir picking up a couple of wickets each and in reply, Titan were restricted to 137 for seven in 20 overs with Rashid (28) the main scorer and Suranga (three for 21) the pick of the bowlers.
In another match, BCC edged out BCC A by 4 runs after making 190 for seven thanks to a fine unbeaten knock by Wasif Iqbal (84, 12x4, 1x6), while Ashraf, Azeem, Sarfraz and Imran Butt all claimed a wicket each.
BCC ‘A’ in reply finished of 186 for nine with Azeem Ul Haq (32 off 20) the main scorers as Yaser Sadeq, Qasim Zia and Babar Ali all taking two wickets each.
