First Corona Virus case detected in the Kingdom
Manama : The first case of Middle East Respiratory Symptom (MERS/Corona-Virus) was detected in Bahrain recently, health authorities confirmed yesterday.
Health Ministry’s Public Health Directorate said in a statement late last night that the deadly disease was detected in a Saudi patient, who was undergoing an open heart surgery at Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa Cardiac Centre at the Military Hospital.
The directorate explained that the patient, medical staff, visitors and cleaners, who entered the room would be isolated for 14 days. It added that a specialised infection control team is scheduled to reach Bahrain today morning.
This is the first case of MERS/Corona-Virus to be recorded in the Kingdom of Bahrain since the disease was globally discovered in 2012.
