14 get 10 years jail for setting vehicle on fire

ManamaThe High Criminal Court has sentenced 14 defendants accused of setting a vehicle on fire to 10 years behind the bars each.

The incident happened in Sitra in 2015, where the suspects are said to have attacked police officers along with 63 other thugs.

They pelted at them firebombs and iron rods, while the car, which belongs to a Saudi-based company, caught fire after a Molotov cocktail bottle hit it.

The Bahraini suspects were put on trial after investigations concluded their involvement in the attack.

“I saw around 70 masked men, and I recognised a few of them. They were carrying iron rods, Molotov cocktails and stones,” the first defendant told prosecutors.

Police officers seized items being used in the riot, which included firebombs and iron rods during raids at the residences of the defendants.
