School Referred for Investigation Over Non-Compliant Curriculum Content

The Ministry of Education has confirmed that, as part of its legal mandate to oversee educational institutions, it has referred the administration of a private school for investigation after an English-language book included in its curriculum was found to contain content that violates the provisions of the Education Law, the Law on Private Educational Institutions, related regulations, and established religious and national values.

The Ministry has also instructed the school to immediately discontinue the use of the curriculum and replace it with one approved by the Ministry.

While the school did not teach the specific material in question, the adoption and distribution of the curriculum without properly reviewing and removing content that breaches regulations—despite clear Ministry guidelines—constitutes a violation that requires action.

The Ministry emphasised that private schools, through their boards of directors, are responsible for ensuring that all adopted curricula comply with official standards and guidelines. It added that serious violations may result in measures such as dismissing the board of directors, appointing a new board, or making administrative changes in line with approved regulations.
