Deputy PM praises Bahrain’s human rights record
Manama: On behalf of Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister HH Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa received the first annual report of the Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission (PDRC) for 2014-2015.
This came as the Deputy Premier received at Gudaibiya palace the PDRC Chairman Nawaf Al-Ma’awda, who handed over to him the report.
Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa appreciated PDRC and its officials for the efforts they had exerted to compile the report, highlighting the importance of the Commission’s role in consolidating and preserving human rights in the Kingdom.
He affirmed that the Kingdom boasts of an outstanding human rights record based on modern constitutional foundations and an umbrella of advanced laws that made the principles of human rights a central pillar in Bahrain’s policies.
The Deputy Premier lauded the valuable information and data included in PDRC’s report, which, he said, reflects the panel’s success in monitoring the development in the conditions of prisoners and detainees, wishing it further success.
