Minister Checks Noon Work Ban

- Employers praised for strong adherence to the summer midday work ban

- Inspections focus on heat stress prevention, drinking water, rest breaks and occupational safety

- Daily inspections continue, with violations referred for legal action

Minister of Labour and Minister of Legal Affairs, Yousif bin Abdulhussain Khalaf, conducted a field inspection of several construction sites to assess compliance with the Kingdom's summer midday work ban aimed at protecting workers from extreme heat.

The visit focused on implementing Ministerial Decision No. (5) of 2026, which prohibits outdoor work under direct sunlight and in open areas between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., from June 15 to August 31, 2026.

During the tour, the minister reviewed the safety measures adopted at the worksites and met with occupational safety supervisors to discuss efforts to maintain safe working conditions. He stressed the importance of continuously strengthening workplace safety to reduce occupational injuries and heat stress during the summer months.

Khalaf commended the high level of compliance demonstrated by companies, noting it reflects employers' awareness of their responsibility to provide a safe and healthy working environment while protecting workers from heat stress risks.

He noted that the commitment also highlights Bahrain's dedication to promoting occupational safety and health standards while fostering a productive work environment.

The Ministry of Labour's inspection teams continue to carry out daily site visits during the restricted hours to ensure establishments comply with the regulations. Inspectors also verify the provision of heat stress prevention measures, including adequate drinking water, suitable rest breaks, and other occupational safety and health requirements.

The ministry said any violations detected during inspections will be referred to the competent judicial authorities for legal action in accordance with the law.
