Speed Bumps Installed on Two Hamad Town Roads
The Ministry of Works has started installing speed bumps on two roads in Hamad Town following repeated complaints from residents about speeding vehicles and increasing traffic volumes.
The traffic calming measures are being introduced on Road 705 in Block 1207 and Road 554 in Block 1205, areas identified as needing improved road safety.
Northern Municipal Council member Abdulla Al Qubaisi, who represents the Ninth Constituency, said the decision came after residents raised concerns about drivers exceeding speed limits on the busy roads.
He said the speed bumps are intended to reduce vehicle speeds, encourage motorists to comply with traffic regulations, and improve safety for all road users, particularly children and elderly residents. The measures are also expected to help lower the risk of traffic accidents.
Al Qubaisi commended the Ministry of Works for conducting traffic safety assessments across roads in the constituency and for the prompt response of its technical and engineering teams to concerns and proposals submitted by residents and the municipal council.
He also expressed appreciation to the Minister of Works and the ministry's officials and engineers, noting that the ongoing field studies demonstrate strong cooperation between the ministry and municipal councils in addressing residents' needs and enhancing public services.
The councillor added that he will continue working closely with the ministry to follow up on traffic improvement projects and support the development of road infrastructure throughout the Ninth Constituency.
