Court Orders Mother to Hand Over Daughter
Cassation upholds custody ruling in father's favour

The Court of Cassation upheld a ruling ordering a mother to hand over her daughter to the child's father, who had previously been granted custody by the Sharia Court.
The mother had refused to comply with the custody order despite repeated requests. Instead of enforcing a six-month prison sentence, the court ordered her to hand over the child within one week of the judgment becoming final and to pay BD500 in temporary civil compensation to the father.
The ruling had earlier been upheld by the High Criminal Court of Appeal.
