An Omani delegation visiting Bahrain for the graduation ceremony of the Arabian Gulf University’s (AGU) 39th graduating class held talks with university officials on expanding cooperation in higher education, student support and research initiatives.

Dr. Saad bin Saud Al Fahaid, President of AGU, received Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Shibli, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Higher Education in the Sultanate of Oman, and his accompanying delegation on the sidelines of the ceremony, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The discussions focused on strengthening academic cooperation and enhancing support services provided to Omani students, with the aim of improving their educational experience and aligning academic outcomes with the development priorities of both countries.

During the visit, the delegation reviewed the progress of Omani students enrolled at the university and praised AGU’s commitment to providing comprehensive academic and administrative support across its colleges, including the College of Medicine and Health Sciences and the College of Education, Administrative and Technical Sciences.

Dr. Al Shibli reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to expanding educational partnerships with AGU, noting that regular visits help assess students’ needs and contribute to improving the quality of services offered to them. He also congratulated the graduates and their families and commended the organisation of the graduation ceremony.

For his part, Dr. Al Fahaid said AGU remains dedicated to providing a comprehensive learning environment that strengthens students’ academic and professional capabilities. He noted that the graduation of Omani students from the university since 1980 reflects the depth of Gulf cooperation and its extension into academic and intellectual fields.

The university president also highlighted the work of the Sultan Qaboos Academic Chair for Desert Farming Techniques and Soilless Agriculture, established through an initiative by the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said. He underscored the importance of expanding research cooperation in advanced agricultural technologies to support food security and sustainability goals across GCC countries.

The delegation toured the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, including the Medical Skills and Simulation Centre and the Anatomy Museum, and reviewed the university’s academic programmes.

Both sides emphasised the importance of continued coordination and cooperation to enhance educational outcomes and further strengthen the learning environment for Omani students.
