Bahrain has stepped up efforts to combat theft and burglary through intensified police patrols, advanced surveillance technology and stricter enforcement measures, while warning offenders of severe legal penalties under the law.
Security authorities said police directorates across all governorates are continuing round-the-clock patrol operations aimed at tracking suspects, preventing theft-related crimes and strengthening public safety.
Officials stressed that modern technology has become a key weapon in crime detection, helping authorities identify suspects, analyse criminal methods and solve cases more efficiently. Community cooperation has also played a major role in supporting security efforts, they said.
Authorities highlighted that Bahraini law imposes harsh punishments in aggravated theft cases. Under Decree-Law No. (15) of 1976 and its amendments, offenders can face life imprisonment in cases involving armed robbery, break-ins, threats, violence or crimes committed at night by multiple individuals. Other offences involving theft from homes, places of worship or residential properties can also lead to prison terms.
Security officials said theft complaints are reviewed according to the circumstances of each case before being referred to the Public Prosecution for investigation and legal action. Cases are later transferred to the competent courts.
At the same time, authorities urged residents to strengthen home security measures to reduce the risk of theft.
Recommendations included installing surveillance cameras, securing windows and doors, improving outdoor lighting and avoiding public disclosure of travel plans on social media. Residents were also advised not to leave spare keys near entrances or store valuables in easily accessible locations.
Officials said the measures form part of wider efforts to raise public awareness, strengthen community participation and maintain security and stability across the Kingdom.
