HM King Hamad ratifies unemployment insurance amendment

HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, ratified and issued Law No. 15 of 2026 amending provisions of the country’s unemployment insurance legislation, following approval by the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives.
The new law introduces an additional clause to Article 8(c) of Decree-Law No. 78 of 2006 on unemployment insurance.
Under the amendment, a new item (8) stipulates the payment of wages for Bahraini workers insured under the Social Insurance Law, issued by Decree-Law No. 24 of 1976, for the month of April 2026. The payment will be capped at the insured wage, in accordance with the provisions outlined in paragraph (e) of the same article.
The law mandates that the prime minister and relevant ministers implement its provisions, each within their respective jurisdictions. It will come into effect on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
