Social Insurance Calls Employers to Register for April Wage Support
The Social Insurance Organization (SIO) has urged employers wishing to benefit from the payment of Bahraini employees’ April 2026 salaries through the Unemployment Insurance Fund to register online no later than 28 April, ensuring timely processing of entitlements after legal approval.
This comes following the legislative approval of an amendment to Law No. (78) of 2006 on unemployment insurance, adding a new clause that enables coverage of salaries for Bahrainis working in the private sector for April 2026. The move aligns with directives to support the private sector, safeguard national employment, and maintain economic stability.
SIO Chief Executive Sihar Rashid Al Mannai confirmed that, in coordination with the Ministry of Labour, the authority is taking necessary steps to process salary payments once the law is officially ratified and issued.
Employers are required to register via the SIO website by 28 April 2026 to ensure inclusion of eligible employees. Salary disbursements will be based on April 2026 insurance records, with employers responsible for paying employees through normal procedures.
Once the law is approved, the SIO will transfer the funds to establishments on 30 April after deducting monthly insurance contributions, up to the insured wage ceiling, in line with applicable regulations.
