HRH Crown Prince Issues Edict
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, issued an edict reconstituting Bahrain’s Strategic and Spectrum Coordination Committee, following a proposal by the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Cabinet approval.
The committee will be chaired by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority Board Chairman, with representatives from the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, Bahrain Defence Force, Ministry of Interior, National Guard, National Intelligence Agency, Ministry of Information and Bahrain Space Agency. The edict takes effect from the date of issuance and will be published in the Official Gazette.
Sports Authority Gains ISO Certification
The General Sports Authority obtained ISO 9001 quality management system certification, marking an administrative milestone. Dr. Abdulrahman Askar, CEO of the GSA, presented a copy of the certification to HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
HH Shaikh Khalid said the certification reflects the authority’s efforts to strengthen institutional systems, quality standards and governance. He added that administrative development remains an important pillar in advancing Bahrain’s sports sector.
Bahrain Elected UNCTAD Vice-President
The Kingdom of Bahrain has been elected Vice-President of the Trade and Development Board of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) for a one-year term. Bahrain is represented by Commercial Attaché in Geneva Maryam Abdulaziz Al Doseri.
As Vice-President, Bahrain will serve on the Board’s Bureau and contribute to discussions on trade, investment, finance and development, reflecting its participation in the multilateral system.
Shura Chief Condemns Attacks
Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh condemned Houthi attacks targeting Saudi cities, including Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif, using ballistic missiles and drones. The attacks injured civilians and caused damage to homes and vehicles.
Al Saleh affirmed Bahrain’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures taken to protect its sovereignty, security and stability, describing the attacks as violations of international law and the UN Charter.
Housing Committee Reviews Plans
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning’s Equal Opportunities Committee held its third periodic meeting for 2026, chaired by Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Information and committee chairwoman Dunia Faisal Sarhan.
The committee reviewed progress on its 2026 annual plan and initiatives supporting equal opportunities and gender balance, in line with the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women 2025–2026.
