GCC Education Ministers Explore AI in Schools

Education Minister Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma chaired the 10th Meeting of GCC Education Ministers in Manama, held as part of Bahrain’s presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The meeting was attended by GCC education ministers and Khalid bin Ali bin Salem Al Sunaidi, Assistant Secretary-General for Economic and Development Affairs at the GCC General Secretariat.

Dr. Juma conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, along with their wishes for the meeting to achieve its objectives and meet the aspirations of GCC leaders.

He stressed the importance of continued coordination and cooperation among GCC countries in education, including the exchange of expertise and successful experiences and keeping pace with developments in the sector.

The minister also highlighted the importance of integrating modern technologies and artificial intelligence into education systems, while promoting innovation and problem-solving to improve education quality and prepare students for future requirements.

Al Sunaidi said education is among the key areas of GCC integration because of its role in developing human capital, strengthening identity, building skills, and supporting competitiveness and innovation.

He noted that education systems across the GCC serve around 10.9 million students, with more than 940,000 teachers and approximately 44,500 educational institutions.

The meeting also featured a consultative session in which the ministers exchanged views and coordinated positions on key issues, challenges and future opportunities facing education systems across the GCC.

The discussions aimed to further strengthen cooperation and integration in education among GCC member states.
