Bahrain Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the escalating terrorist attacks carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including an attempted drone attack targeting Makkah on the evening of September 15, 2026.

The ministry said the attack was thwarted by the Royal Saudi Air Defence Forces, describing the attempt as a deliberate repetition of the militia’s attempt to target Makkah in 2017.

It stressed that attacks targeting holy sites have become a persistent practice by the militia and should not be viewed as an isolated incident.

The ministry said the attempted attack represents a flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the Charter of the United Nations, the Charter of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

It also described the attempt as a blatant violation of the sanctity of the Grand Mosque and the sacredness of the holy sites.

The ministry stressed that Makkah is the direction of prayer for Muslims, the place where divine revelation descended, and the Sacred Sanctuary of Allah, adding that targeting Makkah constitutes an attack on the entire Muslim Ummah.
