5kg Meth Hidden in Sports Gear

A 30-year-old Asian man has been sentenced to five years in prison, fined 3,000 dinars, and ordered deported after serving his sentence for attempting to smuggle around 5 kilograms of methamphetamine into Bahrain hidden inside sports equipment.
The High Criminal Court convicted the defendant after Customs officers at Bahrain International Airport discovered suspicious cargo during routine screening of parcels arriving from an Asian country. X-ray scans revealed abnormal density inside sports bats, which were found to contain crystalline substances suspected to be meth.
A second parcel linked to the same identification number was later flagged and found to contain similar concealed drugs.
Authorities coordinated a controlled delivery operation after the suspect requested collection of the shipments. He was arrested immediately upon receiving the parcels, and a precision electronic scale used for drug distribution was also seized during his arrest.
