ABU DHABI: Iran’s actions in attacking neighbouring Gulf states are "unprecedented," "almost unhinged," and "irrational," according to UAE Minister for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy. In a formal interview, the Minister expressed profound surprise that Tehran has chosen to strike the very nations that have consistently worked to prevent the current conflict from starting.
"We've borne the brunt of most of the missiles and drone attacks, and it's really quite surprising for us that Iran has taken such an irrational path to fight the Gulf states and act in this quite unlawful, quite unacceptable manner."
This aggression is especially striking because the UAE had explicitly promised that its territory would not be used as a launchpad for strikes against Iran. Despite this neutrality, Al Hashimy noted that Tehran has moved beyond military targets to hit civilian infrastructure, including airports and oil tankers.
According to the Minister, this strategy has only further isolated Iran. She pointed out that 136 countries recently backed a UN Security Council resolution specifically to condemn these attacks. Ultimately, her account portrays a UAE leadership that is firm yet bewildered by a neighbor attacking the partners who have prioritized regional stability.
