India Urges Restraint, Reaffirms Solidarity with Bahrain

Government of India has expressed deep concern at the commencement of the conflict on 28 February 2026. As a proximate neighbour with critical stakes in the security and stability of the Gulf region, these developments evoke great anxiety in India. We urge all sides to exercise restraint, avoid escalation and prioritize the safety of civilians. India strongly reiterates its call for dialogue and diplomacy. We raise our voice clearly in favour of an early end to the conflict.

Indian Prime Minister His Excellency Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation on 2 March 2026 with His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain. During the conversation, Prime Minister Modi strongly condemned the recent attacks on Bahrain. He expressed India’s firm solidarity with the people of Bahrain during this difficult hour. The Prime Minister also thanked His Majesty for the steadfast support and care extended to the Indian community in Bahrain.

In view of the current regional situation, all Indian nationals in the friendly Kingdom of Bahrain are advised to take due care, and follow news and advisories as and when issued by the Government of Bahrain and the Embassy. The Embassy is continuing to function as usual. Our passport, visa and consular services are being provided at the ICAC in Bahrain Mall. We also have two emergency contact numbers, namely +973 39418071 and +973 38400433.

I advise all Indian nationals to keep safe, stay secure, obey the alerts, respect and follow the laws and regulations of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
